20 years of the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology!
On March 28th 2018, we shall celebrate the 20th anniversary of the opening of the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology. For the first time, interested people were able to view at first hand Ötzi the Iceman and his unique belongings in the context of the archaeology of South Tyrol. Since then, the permanent exhibition about Ötzi has been further enhanced by new discoveries in archaeology, medicine, gene technology, criminology and many other attractions.
In the meantime, the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology has become one of the most famous archaeological museums in the whole of Europe. Which is why our 20th anniversary will focus entirely on our visitors. From 24.3.2018 the whole of the third floor will be set aside for them as a space for individual creativity and personal enrichment. THE LOUNGE is an area offering oases of peace as well as playful elements, facilitating reflection on the exhibits in the museum as well as relaxation.
In addition we will be celebrating the anniversary with two Open Days on Saturday 24 and Sunday 25 March 2018, from 10:00 to 18:00. Young and old are most welcome, and all events as well as entry in the museum will be free.
