Welcome to the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology
The South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology is located in the historic city centre of Bolzano.
The display area comprises a permanent exhibition on Ötzi the Iceman and a special exhibition area on varying topics.
You will need to allow approximately 1 to 2 hours for a tour of the Museum.
For safety reasons, only 300 people are allowed in the Museum at any one time. We therefore ask for your patience if you have to wait at the entrance during peak holiday times.
Reservations
Please reserve your entry in advance if possible. This may be done up to three days prior to your intended visit. There is also the possibility to make a last-minute reservation on the same day of the intended visit if there are still places available.

Groups with a booking have priority entrance to the museum and groups with a guided tour can have access to the museum from 9am onwards, before the museum opens.
Museum facilities
The Museum is accessible to people with disabilities. There is a museum shop, a cloakroom, a seating area and a vending machine for beverages inside the Museum. Although the Museum doesn’t have a café or a restaurant, there is a wide choice of places to eat and drink nearby.
Families in the Museum
Children at the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology can use their very own audio guide. It was specially designed for children from ages 6-10.In July and August the FamilyZone is available to sit back, relax and absorb what you’ve learned.
Visiting the Museum with dogs
Small dogs that can be carried are allowed in the exhibition. Bigger dogs must wait in a suitable cage in the Museum entrance.
Museum voucher for hotels and tour operators
Tourism operators, travel agents, hotels and companies with a VAT number have the opportunity to use the voucher below (voucher for entrance to the museum). The voucher must be completed correctly and in full according to our terms and conditions. The voucher can be redeemed by the guest at the ticket office of the museum. A collective bill will then be sent to the business concerned at the end of each month.
