Frequently Asked Questions
FAQ`s
Reservations
Is a reservation required or can I visit the museum without one?
The South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology can be visited with or without a reservation.
With a reservation, you can enter the museum at your selected time without waiting. Without a reservation, especially on busy days, you may experience long waiting times. If you’d like to skip the line, we recommend booking your visit online at https://www.iceman.it/en/reservations.
Available time slots are released three days in advance and updated in real time, so today you can book for the same day, the next day, or the day after.
Please note that during high season, tickets tend to sell out quickly.
Payment is made directly at the ticket shop, either in cash or by debit/credit card.
Please be aware that reservations cannot be modified after booking. No refunds are provided, as no advance payment is required.
Can I skip the line if I have a reservation?
Yes, people with reservations have priority admission.
How long do I have to wait in line?
A line may form in front of the museum when the number of visitors exceeds its maximum capacity. The waiting time depends on several factors beyond our control, such as the duration of each visitor’s stay inside the museum. For this reason, we are unable to provide estimates and kindly ask you not to call for this information.
Do I have to wait even if I have a reservation?
Visitors with a reservation can enter the museum immediately at their selected time and purchase their ticket directly at the ticket shop.
Please note: If you do not arrive on time, your reservation will no longer be valid.
What if I can’t arrive at my reserved time? Can I still enter?
Entry is not guaranteed if you arrive late. If the museum is at full capacity (i.e., there's a queue), your reservation will no longer be valid. Depending on the number of visitors, waiting times may apply.
Is a guided tour included in the reservation?
No, reservations only include admission. Audio guides are available at the ticket desk for €4.00 per person.
How far in advance can I book a guided tour?
Guided tours must be requested in writing at info@iceman.it at least 4 working days in advance. Booking is only considered valid after you receive written confirmation.
How do I contact the reservation office?
The office is open Monday to Friday, 9am – 1pm (except on public holidays). Individuals, families, and small groups of less than 10 people can only make reservations online.
Can people join existing groups of visitors?
No, every reservation is private; external participants cannot be added.
Is there priority admission for people with disabilities?
